1st High Diversion Organics Processing Facility in the U.S.
The GreenWaste San Jose Material Recovery Facility is California’s first, and only, high diversion organic waste processing facility. This facility does not rely solely on customer-source separation, and instead, uses technology to extract the organic content directly from municipal solid waste for composting, ensuring SB 1383 compliance and higher organics diversion rates.

The GreenWaste Renewable Energy Digestion Facility utilizes dry fermentation anaerobic digestion technology to provide an additional solution for organics and in the process, produces a feedstock for composting and renewable energy in the form of electricity that is utilized to power the facility and California’s grid.

GreenWaste has been at the forefront of zero emissions vehicle (ZEV) adoption, partnering with manufacturers to help create waste ZEVs in our communities. In 2017, GreenWaste debuted the world’s first all-electric full-sized side-loading refuse truck. We have since added 3 more ZEVs to our collections fleet, with more on order, as we continue to prioritize ZEVs in our fleet.
