The GreenWaste San Jose Material Recovery Facility is California’s first, and only, high diversion organic waste processing facility. We have received the highly acclaimed Gold Excellence Award in the Recycling System category from the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA). The GreenWaste San Jose Material Recovery Facility incorporates three distinct processing facilities, each designed to separate different types of materials.
GreenWaste Zanker Resource Recovery Facility
GreenWaste is a leader in processing and recycling construction and demolition (C&D) debris, diverting over 75% of material from disposal. We were the first to do it, we’re the most innovative at it, and we’re the first in the Western U.S. to earn RCI Certification.
GreenWaste Florin Perkins Resource Recovery Facility
GreenWaste’s Florin Perkins Resource Recovery Facility primarily processes construction and demolition debris (C&D) to assist the City of Sacramento and neighboring communities with their C&D diversion goals.
We also accept public recycling, including certain hard-to-recycle items like mattresses, carpet, furniture, and refrigerators.
GreenWaste Z-Best Composting Facility
Our GreenWaste Z-Best Composting Facility, located in Gilroy, was constructed in 1997 to process yard trimmings into high-grade compost. The facility receives up to 1,000 tons per day of yard trimmings, which are processed into an organic compost that Monterey and Salinas Valley farmers purchase to use on their crops.
Additionally, the facility processes 350 tons per day of municipal solid waste and food waste, which is sold to the local landscaping industry.
GreenWaste Renewable Energy Digestion Facility
With the goal of taking organics recovery to the next level and capturing the energy value of food discards, GreenWaste built a state-of-the-art anaerobic digestion facility. The GreenWaste Renewable Energy Digestion Facility was the first commercial scale dry fermentation anaerobic digestion facility in the United States.
GreenWaste Hayward Transfer Station
The GreenWaste Hayward Transfer Station can process up to 175 tons a day of construction and demolition material. Our facility serves Bay Area customers, ranging from small to mid-level construction contractors with complex waste streams. We provide integrated waste management services consisting of collection, landfill, transfer, recycling and other related services.
